Description

Terracotta figurines in Ancient time - Israeli National Maritime Museum. Haifa צלמיות בעת העתיקה, מאוסף המוזיאון הלאומי הימי בחיפה צלמית היא פסלון קטן ממדים בצלם אדם או בעל חיים. הצלמית יוצרה מחומרים שונים בעיקר טין, אבן ומתכת. על פי הצלמית ניתן ללמוד על מנהגי פולחן , אורחות חיים ומנהגים של התרבויות השונות לאורך ההיסטוריה. מקום הימצאן הפיזי כפי שהן נמצאות בעת חפירה ארכאולוגית מאפשר הסקת מסקנות לגבי השימושים של הצלמיות כגון, חפצי קדושה, קמע פוריות, קמע מזל ועוד. הצלמיות הקדומות ביותר במזרח הקרוב הופיעו בתקופה הניאוליתית קדם-קראמית (מחצית האלף ה-9 לפנה"ס – ועד סוף האלף ה-6 לפנה"ס)
