Description
English: Orthodox Church in Ishinomaki, Miyagi, dedicated to St. John the Apostle. It was used as a church belonging to Orthodox Church in Japan, but now it is a cultural heritage of Ishinomaki after repairing Miyagi earthquake damage in 1978. The heritage: Saint John the Apostle Orthodox Church in Ishinomaki, is the oldest wooden church building (built in 1880) among existing wooden churches in Japan. Today, Ishinomaki Orthodox Church uses the other new church building (whose name is same; "Saint John the Apostle Church") after the earthquake.
日本語: 宮城県石巻市にある、聖使徒イオアン聖堂。石巻ハリストス正教会の旧聖堂であり、日本正教会に所属している。聖堂として使われていたが、1978年の宮城県沖地震による被災後、新聖堂の建て直しに伴ってこの旧聖堂は移築され、文化財として保存されている。文化財となっている聖使徒イオアン聖堂は、木造教会建造物としては日本で最古（1880年建造）のものである。地震後から現在に至るまで、石巻ハリストス正教会は同名の聖堂を別に新たに建て直して使用している。
