English: Winners medal to Isaac Watt Boulton for the 8 Mile Race held in Manchester in August 1867 - Which is now acknowledged as the first "organised" automobile race There is a full account of the race in “The Engineer” a highly renowned Victorian periodical dated 30th August, 1867 which states. ”in accordance with previous arrangement”, this confirms it was an organised arranged race event - two road carriages, one made by Mr. Isaac W. Boulton, a single cylinder 9 in. stroke, raced the 2 cylinder automobile of Daniel Adamson The race started from Ashton-under-Lyne at 4.30 a.m. to the finish line at the show ground at Old Trafford, a distance of eight miles. Boulton won the race arriving at Old Trafford under the hour
