Summary
[edit]DescriptionIrish M1 under construction - geograph.org.uk - 446128.jpg |
English: Irish M1 under construction The M1 (Irish Republic) runs from Dublin to Dundalk; whilst the M1 (Northern Ireland) runs from Belfast to Lisburn with the A1 dual carriageway extending southwards to Newry. The N1 in the gap between Dundalk and Newry is a singularly unpleasant length of single carriageway. A new section of motorway seen here is currently under construction just north of the Border (there are no plans to replace the section north of Newry with motorway). Wikipedia N1_road quotes the completion of this length as second quarter of 2007, but judging from this photo (here shown crossing the main Dublin to Belfast railway) that somehow seems unlikely. |
