There was not much by way of a science rationale for this observation, but it was impossible not to showcase the bright bedrock in the rugged terrain here.

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: There was not much by way of a science rationale for this observation, but it was impossible not to showcase the bright bedrock in the rugged terrain here. This observation was a ”ride-along” with the CRISM instrument, so both teams imaged this region at the same time. CRISM is a spectrometer and can give us information about about the area while HiRISE provides the topographical details.

Image cutout is less than 5 km (3 mi) across and the spacecraft altitude was 256 km (159 mi). For full images including scale bars, visit the source link.
