English: The **cabinet-palace** is an intricately crafted piece made of marble and alabaster, designed in the form of a three-story palace. The ground floor and the first floor are adorned with blind arcades featuring relief figures of men and women inspired by classical antiquity. Both floors are topped with a balustrade.
The upper level consists of a two-story pavilion supported by herm figures. At the center of the first pavilion, there is a silver fountain, while the second pavilion features a seated man on a throne under a canopy. Four stair turrets with domed pavilions connect the various levels of the structure. The herms on the stair turrets and the canopy are made of painted wood, while all other figures are crafted from alabaster or gilded bronze. At the base of one of the turrets, there is a lock mechanism. Unlocking it allows the turret to be removed, revealing a cylindrical, rotating wooden box containing six rows of 28 compartments each. These compartments were specifically designed to hold a collection of gems, such as coins, cameos, and jewelry. A very similar object, both in design and function, was created in Augsburg and is now housed in the Kunstkammer of the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna (inventory no. KK_3390). This strongly suggests that this cabinet was also manufactured in Augsburg.
