All the players thensit in a circle with their hands on their knees,except the Bird-catcher, who stands in the center,and tells a tale about birds, taking care to men-tion the ones he knows to have been chosen by thecompany. As each birds name is called, the ownermust imitate its note as well as he can, but whenthe owl is named, all hands must be put behindthe chairs and remain there until the next birdsname is mentioned. When the Bird-catcher cries, All the birds! the players must together givetheir various imitations of birds; should any playerfail to give the cry when his bird is named, orforget to put his hands behind his chair, he hasto change places with the Bird-catcher. (2) ALERT GROUP GAMES 109 BLOWING THE FEATHER All but one of the players are seated on thefloor^ around a sheet or tablecloth.
