Summary
[edit]DescriptionInbound train wrong-rails into Ayer station September 2022.jpg |
English: An inbound Fitchburg Line train wrong-rails into Ayer station in September 2022. This train is running inbound on the normal outbound track due to a Norfolk Southern freight train that went disabled upon leaving the freight yard located to the south of the station. While the freight train wasn't fully blocking the inbound track, there wasn't enough clearance for the MBTA train to safely pass the disabled freight train, and therefore MBTA dispatchers rerouted their train onto the other track. Fortunately, there is a level crossing between the two tracks within the station, so passengers who were waiting on the inbound platform could still easily board the train without having to cross over to the outbound platform. |
