Two female specimens {F. buckleyi) from Accra, now in theBritish Museum, which originally formed part of the Shelleycollection, may prove to be the females of this species. Theydiffer from the female of F. coqui in having the black stripesover the eye and round the throat nearly obsolete, the basal partof the inner primary and secondary flight-feathers chestnut, andthe upper-parts greyer. Range.—Bongo, Equatorial Africa, and perhaps extending toAccra on the West Coast. b. In the following species the breast and flanks are riot whitish-buff, uniformly barred with black. Total length, 11 inches •wing, 6-2 ; tail, 27 ; tarsus, 1-55. No spurs. Adult Female.—Differs from the male in being rather smalle-and in having the upper-parts barred with buff and the wing-coverts spotted with the same colour. Range.—Central East Africa; southern foot of Mount Elgonand Masai-land. This fine species, recently obtained for thefirst time by Mr. F. J.
