Deutsch: Die Deutsche Post in Ostafrika. Pangani, Postdienstzimmer (1912). – An der Wand hinten links steht ein Verteilfachwerk für Briefe, Formulare, etc. Die beiden schwarzen Hilfsbeamten sitzen jeweils vor einem Farbmorseschreiber. Auf dem Tisch im Vordergrund steht eine Paketbalkenwaage, wie sie in der Zeit um 1880 gebräuchlich war, und die dazugehörigen Gewichte. Eine Briefwaage befindet sich auf den aufgegebenen Paketen auf der Wertkiste hinter dem Tisch. Was auf den ersten Blick wie ein Fernseher anmutet, ist der geöffnete Schalter in der Wandmitte, hinter dem zwei schwarze Kunden auf ihre Bedienung warten. Unter der Landkarte links, hängen Betriebsanweisungen, Verordnungen, Umrechnungskurse u.a. |
