Title
illustration of pipe tamper and seal
Description
English: Copper Alloy pipe tamper with seal probably dating to 16th-17th century. The tamper part is undecorated and tapers from a flat circular ended terminal to the junction with the upper part of the pipe tamper. The tamper & seal intersect at ninety degrees with a cuboid shaped element between them. This has a central circular drilled perforation. The seal protrudes at a ninety degree angle from the tamper and widens to a flat oval face on which is depicted a (running) stag with large horns; there is no inscription.
