English: The iguanides (Iguanidae) or iguanas are a family of semi-arboreal reptiles, either terrestrial or marine, which feed upon plants and insects. The term derives from the Iguanides Iguana vernacular name, which itself comes from the Arawak, the Taino, or the goaxiro. It entered the English language through French from Italian. |
