Description

A Igreja de São Francisco de Mourão encontra-se situada na Praça do Município quase emparelhada com a Igreja da Misericórdia, remonta ao séc. XVIII, reinado de D. João V, tendo sido terminada no reinado de D. José I, decorria o ano de 1758. A sua arquitetura em estilo barroco feita em alvenaria regional possui um portal em xisto.

No interior encontra-se uma nave de planta retangular com abóboda redonda e alçados de cal e azulejos de padronagem datados de 1800.

A capela-mor, em forma quadrangular com o altar e tecto revestido em pintura de tinta de água ostentando medalhões alegóricos a atributos do Calvário, braços cruzados de Jesus e S. Francisco de Assis.

A famosa taça de água benta foi descoberta em 1940 durante as obras de beneficiação do edifício, embebida no alçado e envolta em cal.
