Description 1620, cerca - início do povoamento da região do Salão por uma família de castelhanos vindos de Cedros, onde se tinham fixado em 1589; 1727 - construção de uma primeira igreja; 1730 - elevada a freguesia; 1780 - construção ou reconstrução de uma nova igreja, que tinha 24,2 metros de comprimento e 10,12 metros de largura, e apenas o retábulo-mor; 1834 - doação à igreja de três retábulos dourados que pertenciam ao extinto Convento de São João da Horta, do púlpito e do gradeamento do coro, ficando a igreja com três retábulos; 1998, 9 Junho - destruição total da igreja durante o sismo. <a href="http://www.monumentos.gov.pt/Site/APP_PagesUser/SIPA.aspx?id=29750" rel="noreferrer nofollow">www.monumentos.gov.pt/Site/APP_PagesUser/SIPA.aspx?id=29750</a>
