| Description |
Fotografia Ignacego Płażewskiego przedstawiająca fragment Starego Miasta, najstarszej części Łodzi. Na pierwszym planie widać przede wszystkim fragment Parku Staromiejskiego. Park Staromiejski powstał w latach 1951-1953 wg projektu inż. K. Chrabelskiego, na wyburzonym granicznym fragmencie terenu dawnego Litzmannstadt Getto (dalsze wyburzenia trwały jeszcze po 1945 r.). Przed II wojną światową teren ten zamieszkiwany był przede wszystkim przez ludność żydowską. Do końca XIX wieku na znacznej części terenu dzisiejszego parku znajdował się staw utworzony na rzece Łódce. Po osuszeniu stawu teren został zagospodarowany przede wszystkim na cele mieszkalne. Park widoczny na fotografii jest potocznie nazywany Parkiem Śledzia, gdzie przed 1939 rokiem znajdowały się składy i targi rybne. Stad nazwa parku – park Śledzia. W tle widać wieże kościoła rzymskokatolicki pw. Wniebowzięcia Najświętszej Marii Panny. |
