Fotografia Ignacego Płażewskiego przedstawiająca prządkę przy maszynie podczas pracy w jednym z łódzkich zakładów należących do sektora przemysłu włókienniczego. W górnej części fotografii znajduje się napis „Pion bezbrakowy nr 2a”. Warunki pracy kobiet w łódzkich fabrykach były bardzo ciężkie. Praca odbywała się z reguły w systemie 3-zmianowym, a włókniarki odpowiedzialne były nierzadko za obsługę dwóch bądź trzech maszyn. Po II wojnie światowej wyposażenie zakładów nie było przez dłuższy czas w większości przypadków unowocześniane, co jeszcze bardziej pogarszało warunki pracy.
