Español: La espadaña es una estructura mural que se prolonga verticalmente sobresaliendo del resto de la edificación, y suele acabar en un pináculo. Puede disponer de uno o más vanos para albergar campanas, formando parte de algunas iglesias donde hace funciones de campanario o campanil, diferenciándose de estos en que su acceso no se alberga en el interior.
La tradición atribuye a san Paolino, obispo de Nola (en el siglo V), la paternidad del uso de las campanas como reclamo para las reuniones, pero se remonta a 561 el primer informe de Gregorio de Tours que atestigua el uso de una campana colocada en un torreta especial para llamar a los fieles Iglesia de Santiago Apóstol Muelas del Pan del Siglo XII La iglesia ha sufrido numerosas reformas. Está construida en una nave de tres tramos, rematada por una cabecera cuadrada, en las que se ha empleado sillería y mampostería De la época románica conserva la espadaña que tiene dos ventanas en un primer cuerpo, la fachada norte presidida por una puerta de arco de medio punto, cegada al subir el nivel del suelo norte y una esquina de la parte suroeste. En su interior alberga imágenes que proceden de antiguas ermitas como una Magdalena del siglo XVI, un San Roque y un San Sebastián, además de otras tallas. Destaca también su retablo mayor de dos cuerpos y rematado por por un calvario. |
