Description
English: Fig. 24 Royal procession to the mosque for Id al-Adha (feast of sacrifice during the period of pilgrimage), in Aceh, 1637, when five hundred young buffaloes were sacrificed and the meat distributed, sketched by Peter Mundy. Mundy's notation includes, from left: A, the Great Mosque; B-G, elephants variously arrayed; S, raised platform where Sultan alighted and changed elephants; I, pikemen; 0, Sultan on his "stately elephant covered down to the feet."
