Description
English: Iceberg D28 is the oldest of the three, calving on September 25, 2019, from the western half of the Amery Ice Shelf. Shortly after calving, D28 was located in the Prydz Bay of the Amery Sea, south of the Indian Ocean. After traveling more than 2,500 km (1,553 miles), D28 collided with ice shelves off the Princess Ragnhild Coast between June 1 -2, 2021. The collision broke D29 from the Baudouin ice shelf, and D30 calved from the Borchgrevink ice shelf. Almost immediately after calving, each of those broke into smaller pieces, resulting in five total icebergs created by the collision.
