DescriptionITB V3A 4, tram line 101, Brașov, 1994.jpg |
You could visit Brasov, a large industrial city once called Stalin, without knowing there was a tramway there. Trolleybuses enter the city centre, but trams are restricted to a long north-south line, 101, some way east of the centre, which connects housing estates and industrial complexes. Brasov's industrial quarter also includes the huge Autocamoiane Brasov (AB) "Roman Diesel" plant producing the MAN trucks under licence. This "system" only commenced operation in 1987 with these articulated ROmanian built vehicles. They were subsequently replaced by second hand German trams but final closure came in 2006. The third compartment of this articulated tram is painted 2-tone green. |
