Title
IOW-111193 Medieval Buckle Pin
Description
English: An incomplete Medieval cast copper-alloy buckle pin (c. 1270-c. 1400).

The pin has a tapering shaft in width and thickness and is roughly square in cross-section. However, it is slightly convex along the top. The loop is incomplete due to an old break.
49.6 x 4.1 x 4.0mm. Weight: 4.21g.

This pin has traces of a mid-green patina which has been lost in places due to superficial corrosion. Similar buckle pins from London have been published and dated c. 1270-1400 (Egan and Pritchard 1991: 115-116, fig. 75, refs: 540-550).
