Summary

[edit]
Description
Español: (A) Vista posterior, (B) vista anterior, (C) vista lateral izquierda.

Replica of one of the fossil elements of Huehuecanauhtlus', temporarily stored in the Paleontology Laboratory of the Universidad Michoacana (UMSNH) within the framework of the XVIII National Congress of Paleontology, held at the end of September 2024 in Morelia, Michoacán. The replica was a courtesy loan made by Dr. Ángel A. Ramírez-Velasco.

The element consists of a vertebra and a dorsal rib of Huehuecanauhtlus tiquichensis (IGM 6253) with pathological conditions derived from a premortem or perimortem fracture in the rib, in association with a singular sclerosis and costovertebral ankylosis that probably originated from spinal and costal osteomyelitis, which would have severely affected the nervous system of the individual (Ramírez-Velasco et. al. 2016).[1]
