Description
English: The former IBA Israel Broadcasting Authority in Romema neighbourhood , Jerusalem, Israel. The builidng was constructed in the 1950s as cotton spinning factory that was closed in 1970 and convereted for the use of the News department of Kol Yisrael radio
עברית: בשנת 1971 רכשה רשות השידור את שטח מפעל "חוטי ירושלים", שקיבל את הכינוי "בניין החוטים". ובו פעלה חטיבת החדשות של רדיו "קול ישראל". מפעל "חוטי ירושלים" נחנך בשנת 1958, על ידי קבוצה של יזמים שקיבלו מענק ממשלתי, והוא ייצר חוטי תפירה מכותנה. המפעל הורחב פעמים, שוב בסיוע ממשלתי, והיה אחד המפעלים הגדולים בישראל לחוטים. בשנת 1965 אוחד המפעל עם ארבע מטוויות־כותנה אחרות לקבוצה אחת, בקיץ 1970 הוחלט לסגור את המפעל עקב חוסר רווחיות ועודף כושר ייצור[. עובדי המפעל החלו במאבק מתוקשר שכלל את הפעלת המפעל בעצמם, בסיוע אנשי תנועת "מצפן" עם סגירת רשות השידור השימוש בבניין פסק, והוא נהרס לטובת פרויקט מגורים
