Summary
[edit]DescriptionI've got this spider and I'm taking it home (5359637187).jpg |
I love these little guys. Hanging around the house, they can be seen dragging a hapless (and in this case legless) spider to a secret stash. Spider wasp, Auplopus. Dargo VIC Australia, December 2010. Spare a little sympathy for the spider. He was just hanging around catching flies, when he was stung by one of the most painful wasp stings known to man or spider. Then he gets his legs ripped off, one at a time, all eight of them. He is then dragged ignominiously, still alive, to some muddy hole, where the wasp lays an egg on top of him. The spider is then sealed in his tomb, and waits, unable to even roll over, until the baby wasp hatches and eats him alive. |
