Summary
[edit]DescriptionHypera-zoilus-02-fws.jpg |
English: Hypera zoilus (Scopoli, 1763). Body length 6.5 mm without antennae. Subgenus Antidonus, also placed in genera Donus (Fauna Europaea) or Brachypera (Alonso-Zarazaga et al. 2023, without reference to a taxonomic revision). Apparently the taxonomy is not settled (in 2024). A rare case in 2024 where Wikimedia Commons had three categories for the same species and no decision had been taken which one should be the leading category. I decided to place the species in Hypera because unless a new classification is firmly settled the old system should be maintained.
Determined by kerbtier.de shortly after the picture was taken (kerbtier.de was a service in which a German team of experts determined up to hundreds of photographed beetles per day between 2012 and 2023). Germany: Schleswig-Holstein, Kreis Ostholstein, Kellenhusen. |
