Description
English: This image, captured on 15 August 2021 by the Copernicus Sentinel-3 mission, shows the giant smoke plumes from the fires in California and Oregon, as well as Hurricane Linda off the coast of Baja California. This wide image was obtained by merging four Sentinel-3 acquisitions together.
Sentinel-3 is a two-satellite mission to supply the coverage and data delivery needed for Europe’s Copernicus environmental monitoring programme. Each satellite’s instrument package includes an optical sensor to monitor changes in the colour of Earth’s surfaces.
