Description
Deutsch: Hungerbrunnen; eine episodisch, früher nur in sehr verregneten Jahren, im gleichnamigen Trockental aus dem Talboden schüttende Karstquelle. Typische Karstlandschaft der Schwäbischen Alb (flache Reliefs, Wacholderheiden). Ostalb bei Altheim (Alb-Donau-Kreis, nähe Heidenheim); abgebildeter Bereich in der Gemeinde Gerstetten (Landkreis Heidenheim).

Wasseraustritt am Schild Naturdenkmal (FND) links im Hintergrund.

Brauchtum um den Hungerbrunnen ist in Ulmer Dokumenten zurück bis 1533 belegt. Auf der Schwäbischen Alb werden 17 selten schüttende Karstquellen als "Hungerbrunnen" bezeichnet. (Binder, Höhlenführer Schw. Alb, 2003).

English: Hungerbrunnen, episodically, in rainy years, running karst spring. The water exits from the flat valley ground. Typical landscape of the Swabian Alb: Broad former floodplain, now a Dry Valley with the same name as the spring itself. Watch the bushes on the sheep ground (right): Plants of the Genus Juniperus.
On the Swabian Alb no less than 17 episodical karst springs have this same name.
