ACT III The curtain rises, showing Hansel and Gretel still asleep in the wood. The Dawn Fairyshakes dewdrops on the children and wakes them just as the mist clears away, revealing thehouse of the Witch. The children approach cautiously and begin to nibble at the gingerbread fence, whenthe Witch comes out and casts a spell over them.
