Summary
[edit]DescriptionHumber Lifeboat, Spurn Point - geograph.org.uk - 307777.jpg |
English: Humber Lifeboat, Spurn Point, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The only lifeboat station in the UK with a full-time crew, seen here at low tide in early January. The first Spurn Lifeboat was established in 1810 by Hull Trinity House. Due to its remote location there have been specially built houses at Spurn for the crews and their families from 1819 to the present day. Crew members often cycle down the raised gangway from their homes to the lifeboat moorings in order to save a few precious seconds. |
