Summary

[edit]
Description
English: How to spread Japanese Knotweed, Stoke-on-Trent. Here was a stem of Japanese Knotweed floating in the Caldon Canal in Stoke. There was a lot more floating down to Lock No 37 where the railway crosses the canal. There was weed in the lock, and more being flushed and battered through the sluices, and carried through by boats heading towards Stone. All this weed had been cut down and thrown into the canal by cemetery or council parks department staff, probably not even knowing what it was they were doing. It is a criminal offence to cause this plant to spread.

Crown and stems, even small fragments, are capable of regenerating and becoming a new plant. If the plants are cut back it is important to dispose of the crown and stems properly.(Quoted from this site): http://www.devon.gov.uk/index/environment/natural_environment/biodiversity/japanese_knotweed/control_of_knotweed.htm Please see these links. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/600753
