Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Hore Abbey, Cashel This ruined Cistercian monastery near the town of Cashel and within sight of the more famous Rock, was founded originally in 1266 by the Benedictines. It was given to the Cistercians in 1272 by Archbishop David MacCarvill, who banished the previous occupants who he believed were plotting to kill him! Many changes were made to the building in the 15c, the most noticeable being the addition of the tower in the centre of the transept.
