Description
English: Decorations sit as U.S. Army Soldiers of the 1st Infantry Division and French citizens stand during the playing of The Star-Spangled Banner and the French National Anthem in Nehou, France, June 3, 2023. Seventy-nine years later, D-Day remains an enduring historic reminder of how the strength of alliance and dedicated resolve to shared ideals proved to be the turning point in World War II. Hand-selected Big Red One noncommissioned officers represented the Division throughout D-Day commemorations as part of the Big Red One Year of the NCO campaign. The campaign further develops our NCO Corps and recognizes their contributions, both personal and professional, to the 1st Infantry Division. (U.S. Army photo by Pfc. Dawson Smith)
