София Премудрость Божия

Подобные изображения Софии Премудрости были популярны в русской иконописи XVI-XVII веков. Необычной деталью памятника являются красные ткани одеяний ангелов, которые образуют как бы пяты небесной арки. По-видимому, это результат декоративной интерпретации изображения небосвода в виде свитка, у которого видна "оборотная" сторона. Колорит иконы позволяет связывать ее с иконописью Карелии. На ее нижнем поле имеется надпись, сообщающая о том, что она была вложена в церковь на Яндомозере крестьянами того же села Яндомозеро. Это село находится на Онежском полуострове, к северу от Кижского погоста. Существующая деревянная яндомозерская Варваринская церковь была построена в 1650 г. До нее там имелась часовня, упомянутая в писцовой книге 1563 г. Данная надпись является ценным источником, вносящим уточнения в историю яндомозерской Варваринской церкви, сама же икона - важным источником для изучения живописи Карелии. Как редкий памятник с исторической надписью, имеющий точную локализацию, икона представляет несомненную художественную, историко-культурную и музейную ценность.
