Summary
[edit]DescriptionHoly Trinity church - porch and tower - geograph.org.uk - 723927.jpg |
English: Holy Trinity church - porch and tower. Holy Trinity church > 723942 dates from the 12th century with the tower having been added during the 13th century. Greatly restored in 1854 and 1886, the interior is a combination of new and old: there are a few old carved poppyheads affixed onto the Victorian pews in the choir > 723947. The octagonal font dates from the 14th century, its wooden cover was made in 1964 > 723949. Fragments of old glass are inserted high up in the tracery of one of the south windows in the chancel > 723952; the east window was designed by Edward Framton and inserted in 1896 >723956. The south aisle east window shows some influence of the Arts & Crafts style: it depicts St Francis, preaching to the birds > 723958. The north aisle windows are by G. Maile of London and the easternmost window was made by Harry Stammers in 1959 > 723961. There are several stained glass roundels inserted in the west windows > 723964. The church is open every day.
