Description
English: Hollingbourne Zero Station - escape tunnel. A view into the rear entrance (or exit) from Hollingbourne Zero Station http://www.subbrit.org.uk/sb-sites/sites/h/hollingbourne_zero_station/index.shtml on the edge of the woodland next to Drakes Lane. The tunnel must turn through a right angle to meet up with the other end visible in this picture 230645. The concrete lining of the shaft is in excellent condition and would originally have been concealed by an earth-covered trap door. See other pics of this site https://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=3722179&displayclass=full A Zero Station was a WWII secret underground radio station for receiving/transmitting local intelligence in the event of a German invasion.
