Locomotive #105 is the engine that would take us on the short journey. Built in August 1971, this EMD-SW1000 has spent it's life in New Orleans, Louisiana as a working member of the New Orleans Public Belt. Operating as Locomotive #1001, its number has been changed to its original number, Locomotive #105. Departing Hobo Junction Station in restored vintage coaches, it travels south along the banks of the Pemigewasset River on a historic rail system that dates back to the late 1800’s when logging was the area’s primary industry. Along the way, you may see the colors of Autumn that take center stage throughout the Fall Foliage season from mid-September through late October. |
