Summary

[edit]
Description A view of the 'Ganga Talao' Hindu temple at Grand Bassin in Mauritius. Set in a U shaped valley, the temple comprises of several shrines, including one atop a hill which you can see here. Amazingly, entry to most of these shrines is by wading through ankle to knee deep water, a feature I found quite irritating. An alternative path was sometimes (though not always) available. The lake is actually the dismembered rim of an extinct volcano. The typically round crater shape has been obliterated completely by the elements. (Mauritius, Mar. 2005) (Loss of colour and quality due to scan from print: photo was taken on 35mm film).
