Description
English: A hiker (in distance, center right) works his way across the tundra on a plateau between the Firth River and its largest tributary, Joe Creek, in Canada's Ivvavik National Park. Despite its flat and open appearance, this particular area of tundra is challenging to hike on, due to the many tussocks not immediately obvious in this image and the small puddles resulting from a recent heavy rain, like the one in the foreground but often much smaller, which present themselves to the hiker when he or she goes into them up to the boottop. Trekking poles are advised for this terrain.
