| Description |
On July 4, 2022, 21-year old Robert Eugene Crimo III opened fire on an Independence Day parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park. Seven people were killed and 48 were wounded. Crimo had climbed onto the roof of the Ross Cosmetic building on the northwest intersection of the parade route. It is believe he used the fire escape stairs pictured here. 15 minutes into the parade he opened fire with a Smith & Wesson M&P15 semiautomatic rifle, firing 83 shots into the parade and spectators. When he was finished, he escaped by hiding his facial tattoos and dressing as a woman, blending in with the fleeing, panic stricken crowd. He was caught in Lake Forest about eight hours later. He was indicted by a grand jury on 117 felony counts and is awaiting trial. Located at 523 Central Ave, Highland Park, IL. |
