| Description |
English: “This Higgins made ship, far from its birthplace in New Orleans, La., is one of the reasons why Marine Corps troops have Jap forces on the run in the Solomon Islands. The Higgins craft, pictured between two native boats, is used not only for transportation of men and weapons in the attack by also for the removal of the wounded. The smooth, sandy beaches of the Solomon Islands offer ideal fields of operation for these sturdy boats.”
"This is what we called the Tulagi Navy. These boats were operated by division intelligence. And we worked back and forth along the coast carrying patrols and that sort of thing."
