Summary

[edit]
Description This Hewet ewer is made of separate pieces of sheet gold for the neck, spout, body, and foot. They were hammered separately and then soldered together. It is inscribed with a dedication to Osiris in the name of Ahmose I, the first king of Dynasty 18 of Ancient Egypt.[1] It is not known how it came to be in the tomb of Psusennes I. Ahmose fought against the Hyksos, and it is possible that it came from a monument of his reign in the eastern Nile Delta. Hes-ewers were used for pouring ritual libations; a hieroglyphic sign representing one and read hes is the writing of the Egyptian word for “praise.”. This object was on display at the "Exposition Ramsès II L'or des Pharaons, 2023"[2] in Paris, France.

Public domain
The Public Domain Mark (PDM) is not a copyright license, but a symbol used to indicate that a work is in the public domain. When it is applied by the author or the copyright holder, community consensus has decided such works as being public domain in the US and countries where it is legally possible to release own work to the public domain. In the countries where this is not possible, the copyright status of the work remains undetermined.
If a file is tagged with Public Domain Mark by someone other than the author or the copyright holder, a more specific copyright tag such as one found at Commons:Copyright tags/General public domain must be applied. If this is your own work, please use {{Cc-zero}} instead.
