Over Hercules schouder hangt zijn leeuwenhuid en het kind speelt met de kop van de leeuw. Op de inscriptie op de sokkel van het beeld wordt Hercules geassocieerd met de Romeinse keizer Commodus die probeerde Hercules moed en kracht te evenaren.
