Kind Friend-,
I will write to you again and tell you about my summer vacation and the beginning of another term.
I left here on June 16th for my summer vacation in Conway, Mass. I stayed there for about two months and a half, working hard on the farm and lumbering after we got through farming which I enjoyed very much. I spent the rest of my vacation in Warren, Conn. where I had a good and pleasant home. I was treated as a member of the family. While I was there [p. 2] all the work I done was on the line of my trades, such as carpentering, painting and tin smithing and very little farming which I enjoyed very much. I sing in the choir in the Congrigational [sic] church and attend all the meetings and Sunday schools.
I left Connecticut on Oct. 4th early in the morning and drove about twelve miles which was a very cold ride and came to the station where we meet some more boys and started together for New York. When we came to New York Mr. Gleason was there at the depot with the rest of the boys. We all went on the Brooklyn Bridge where I had never been before. At 3 O’clock in the after noon we started [p. 3] for Hampton on a boat which landed us at Old Point Comfort the following day. When we got on the School grounds we found lots of new boys. I was glad to see some of my old school mates in the Government schools at home. It was a pretty hard work for the teachers and officers to get all the new students where they belong and straighten them out to begin the new term which they succeded [sic] in doing it and give every students work to do if he is not in school. The battalion is formed with the band and seats in the church and dinning room are given to each [p. 4] student. Both trade Schools are filled with boy who wanted trade.
A new building is put for the new treasurer that came here las [sic] spring which I think is the best building on the school ground.
I am in the middle class and expects to make Senior next year. I am still in the church choir.
I thank you very much for your kindness to me and will remember you always.
Yours Gratefully
Henry Taytiopa
