[In English: This organ belongs to the category of street organs or pierements and is equipped with bourdon pipes. It was built in 1905 by the Antwerp organ builder Koeningsberg and owes its name to the blue drums that originally housed it. The Blue Drum has been extensively restored several times over the years, including by Carl Frei. For example, the front was replaced in 1960 by the current front of a “De Vreese” organ. / The most recent restoration dates from 2020/2021 and was carried out by Martin Conrads. The images on the front are of the well-known Helmond buildings. After many wanderings and changes of owners, De Blauwe Trom ended up in Helmond in 1974. Anyone who listens carefully to the Blue Drum will hear that this organ is different from dance organs. Pierementen are characterized by their fresh, lyrical and sometimes even melancholy sound. “Pierement” is a term used since 1912. Some claim that the term comes from the organ builder Pierre Amant, but no one has ever seen an organ by his hand. Others say the term comes from “pieren” or “pierewawaien”, which means to sway or dance. / The restoration was made possible by the Municipality of Helmond, the Friends of Draaiorgels Helmond Foundation and the Helmond Draaiorgels Foundation.] "
