Description
English: Photograph of Helen Millar Nelson (born 21 January 1922 in Girvan, Ayrshire, Scotland, and who passed away on 27 August 2018) with friend in Wales during WWII evacuation from London (1944). Helen (known as "Ella" to her friends and who married Andrzej ST Grodyński grandson of dr Andrzej Kusionowicz Grodyński), her brothers Hugh and Henry, were the children of Joanna "Mary" Henry (1879-1946) and Alexander Millar Nelson (born in Girvan on 2 January 1885 and passed away in Irvine on 20 January 1972) who were married in 1915.
[Mary and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Henry {who married Alexander "Sandy" Fyfe Ross and had children Alexander Charles Ross (1902-1984) and Agnes Arthur Ross (1906-1993, married to William "Bill" Veitch)} were among five other children (and perhaps more) of Agnes Arthur {1837-1896, daughter of David Arthur, born 5 February 1804 in Kirkmichael, and Janet 'Jessie' Jack, born 25 July 1813 in Craigie, who together had nine other children)} and Hugh Henry whom she married in 1868. {Hugh Henry had a number of children already from his first marriage in 1855 to Mary McClure and Agnes Arthur had previously been married in 1859 to James Lindsay (born 1834 in Colmonell) with whom she had a daughter Janet Jack Lindsay.}]
