DescriptionHecatesia fenestrata wing detail.jpg |
Hecatesia fenestrata Boisduval, 1828, male, to MV light, Aranda, ACT, 9.00 p.m., 21 November 2010. Wing detail. This is a male Whistling Moth, able to produce a whistling sound with the knobs on the costa of the forewing and the ribbed, scale-free areas just behind the knobs. According to Common, Moths of Australia, it is usually the females (which lack these characters) which come to light. |
