Title |
heart shaped mount |
||
Description |
English: A complete, cast copper-alloy, post medieval, mount (1550-1700). One end of the asymmetrical mount is heart shaped. The other, smaller end is in the form of two hollows with a central protruding leaf. One of the hollows has a piercing and the other looks like a piercing has not quite gone through. On the convex back there are two integral pointed lugs for attachment to leather.
The patina is green accept where abrasion as occured revealing the red brown core. There is the faint suggestion of straight lines fanning out over the heart which may be the remnants of a decorative pattern. The mount is 41.7mm long and 22.6mm wide. |
