English: This is the very famous and one of the most beautiful monument of Rajasthan, India. "Hawa Mahal" is situated at Jaipur, Rajasthan. The name itself means "The Palace of Wind". It's having an altitude of 87 feet and there are a total of 365 windows in the building according to the information written on a plaque of stone inside the monument. It was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in his reign at 1799. It was specially created for his wife Rathorji and other women from his family where they can be safe inside and can also witness the mundane, festive as well the military activities going on the street without being seen keeping in mind the "Purdah System". |
