Deutsch: Häuser in Damme
Haus Bitter: Haus der Textilhändlerfamilie Bitter. Nach dem Brand von 1908 wurde es im Folgejahr neu erbaut und von Heinrich Leiber (1875-1959) als Geschäfts- und Wohnsitz genutzt. Im Vorgängerhaus befand sich der Ursprungssitz der Firma I.F. Leiber, deren Anfänge dort im Jahr 1797 liegen und die später als Landhandel ihren Geschäftssitz zum Hof Vogelsang an der Mühlenstraße verlegte. Das Haus, das ab 1925 der Kaufmann Hermann Welp als "Kaufhaus für Manufaktur- und Konfektionswaren" weiterführte, erwarb 1929 Carl Bitter (1889-1968). Es trägt typisch gründerzeitliche Züge mit aufwändiger Stuckierung und seltenen Jugendstil-Elementen. Die veränderte Fensterfront im Souterrain gestaltete 1960 Bernard Bitter (1921-2005) um, und passte sie 1989 dem Gebäude wieder an. |
