English: Hard surfaced footpath. A close-up of the footpath seen in 1535940. This looks as if it might be a man made surface but is in fact the natural ground with a high proportion of washed pebbles in the soil resulting from alluvial deposition by the River Trent. It is no surprise that so much of the neighbouring countryside has been exploited for gravel extraction. |
